Positions On Issues

Species at Risk

At the BCSA's 2004 Summit, Challenges Ahead, the Alliance explored issues which may present future challenges to the seafood industry.  Among the topics discussed was the Species at Risk Act (SARA).  The Act protects wildlife populations which are at risk of becoming extinct or lost in the wild.  The ultimate objective is to help populations of affected species recover to healthy levels.  Most of the provisions of the Act entered into force in June 2003.

The speakers at the Summit included respected scientists, government officials, and academics.  The links below will open the Power Point slide presentations given at the Summit.  To advance or repeat the slides use the arrow or page up/down buttons.
